about
Thrust into the context of pandemic pandemonium, ‘Payment’ explores the surreal inner world of an artist set astray from the norms which bind us to routine. A journey from desperation to hopefulness ensues. It is against this backdrop of fear and uncertainty that ‘Payment’ considers the unremarkable elements of life, as lived from a place of isolation; in ‘Payment to the Shaman’ a parcel becomes a shrine, a phone becomes a lifeline, and we are urged to seek solace with simple appreciation for our surroundings.
lyrics
The postman rung the buzzer,
Said you've got a parcel waiting outside,
I rushed down quick to see him,
But he's already walking out the drive,
Placed the parcel in the corner,
So we dressed it up like some kind of shrine,
Jealous of where its come from where its been,
Mocks me every night,
Lover take cover,
This thing is going to explode,
Rubber the structure,
So it doesn't stretch and grow,
The doctor rung the patients,
Weren't so patient there just eager to know,
Is there any kind of medicine,
Injection to make this sucker go,
She even made a payment to the shaman,
In hope something would show,
She just can't seem to kick it,
Cant accept it her heads held in her phone,
Polly stay jolly,
Curl up in a ball and pray,
Pack your trolley,
with holy water to wash it all away,
